Live to Heal a Life
An acid attack is when a person or group of people throw corrosive acid on a person, which melts down the skin as well flesh of the affected area. Acid attacks can even result in blindness and even death. Many legal battles are in process in the Supreme Court for compensation and trial of the accused. Unfortunately, justice alone can’t provide peace in such incidents, as the survivor has to forever carry the marks of the incident and deal with the heavy financial costs of treatment. Then, starts the endless battle with surgeries, medicines and the rest of society. The primary aim of Atijeevan Foundation is to help acid attack victims in their lifelong battle. We hope to do this by supporting their rehabilitation physically, mentally, and financially. In other words, we help victims by getting funds for surgeries, medicines, or providing them with employment. Atijeevan Foundation is striving to open the doors of opportunities for the survivors to earn their living with their own skills and talent and also help them to become financially independent in their lives. We are even going to guide them with medical and legal assistance with the help of a team of professionals and donors.
Atijeevan stands for 'Survival'. Atijeevan Foundation is about bringing a ray of hope among the acid attack survivors who are victimized by this cruel and violent act. As a team, our objective is to give all the survivors a fair and equal chance to make their place in the society like any other common, competent, and independent individual. We are trying to become a bridge between the survivors and society so that these survivors can travel their journey of life with the same ease, comfort, respect and opportunities as any common man gets. Due to the ignorance of the government and civil society, most survivors find no hope and stay an outcast in society. Atijeevan Foundation aims to research and track acid attack cases, and compile data to get the actual situation of survivors. We believe in the philosophy that "If you give someone a piece of bread, you satisfy their hunger but if you teach them how to earn that bread, you make their lives'”. We, at Atijeevan Foundation, aim at creating an environment for the survivors where they can develop and nourish their talents, and eventually make a living out of it.
Atijeevan Foundation believes in standing firmly with acid attack survivors and guiding them through all the psychological and physical support they need. We believe that more than money or financial support, what acid survivors lack is self esteem. Acid attack victims shy away from coming out of their house, let alone having a job or working outside their four walls. We try to help them with proper counseling and showing them a sustainable way of life. We know that they are fighters from within, who stand up against such brutal assault on their body on soul. What they lack is proper guidance and acceptance in the society. Given proper guidance they can stand up once again and lead a life of dignity. We are working towards helping acid attack victims with medical support(funding surgeries), counseling, and helping them set up a sustainable source of income for themselves.
